Inlay and Onlay Restorations

In dentistry, an inlay is an indirect restoration (filling) consisting of a solid substance fitted to a cavity in a tooth and cemented into place. An onlay is the same as an inlay, except that it extends to replace a cusp or cusps.

Ever wonder why some fillings fracture? That’s probably because it’s not well supported. Inlays and onlays are the answer to this problem because they can be made to be properly supported. In our clinic, we prevent accidental fractures by promoting inlays and onlays for large cavities.
